Daphne AL Real Estate For Festivals Galore
Daphne is known as the Jubilee City. “Jubilee” is the name given to a natural phenomenon that occurs on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay. When a “jubilee” occurs, huge quantities of oxygen-starved fish, crab and other sea life leave deep waters and swim to the shores of Mobile Bay. Come early and bring your cooler for an opportunity to scoop up your seafood favorites such as crab, shrimp and flounder. The annual Jubilee Arts and Crafts Festival brings fun and excitement for both kids and adults. Purchase fine artwork by the many talented local artists. Let the kids show off their creativeness at Kids Art in the Park. And enjoy live music while dining on your festival food favorites.
Among Daphne’s many ethnic festivals is the “Festa Italiana” that was originally begun by early Italian settlers who were farmers and winemakers. It’s held each spring along with the Eastern Shore’s Chambers’ Arts & Crafts Festival. These two create a delightful party atmosphere with loads of homemade pastas, sauces and beautiful handmade crafts.
Another Daphne favorite is the Gulf Coast Zydeco Music and Crawfish Festival. Held at the Daphne Civic Center, this festival boasts some of the best Zydeco music imported from Louisiana. Learn the Zydeco two-step and dine on crawfish and other Creole dishes. So, put on your boogie shoes and come hungry!
As with most of the South, Daphne celebrates Mardi Gras with a Mardi Gras season and parades down Main Street. Parade goers catch tons of “throws” and have a traditional celebration that’s lots of fun but safer and more family oriented than the celebration held in New Orleans.
Daphne’s Public Parks, Sports And Outdoor Activities
Taking full advantage of magnificent oceanside views, many of Daphne’s 13 public parks are located along the shores of Mobile Bay. These include Bayfront Parkway, which serves as a beautiful backdrop for special occasions such as weddings, receptions and other parties. The park offers an elevated banquet hall plus Gator Alley Boardwalk, which beautifully winds through an estuary ending at a small pier. Other Daphne waterfront parks sport piers that call to the fisherman in all of us.
Daphne residents have an array of sports activities and opportunities at Trione Park, a large multi-field sports complex, and at Lott Park, a smaller multi-field complex. These two parks house tennis courts, baseball fields and basketball courts. Village Point Park Preserve is a wildlife estuary and also the largest park in Daphne. So, if you love sports and the outdoors, Daphne’s many parks and sports facilities will keep you and your family well entertained.
