Fairhope — One Of The
Most Popular Mobile Suburbs
Just across the Causeway over Mobile Bay lies beautiful Fairhope real estate. Fairhope is a Mobile suburb begun in 1908 as a dream community by a group of free-thinking individuals hoping to create utopia. These group members are known as “single-tax colonists” because of their belief in the economic theories of Henry George who advocated no taxes other than a single land tax.
Believing they had a “fair hope of success,” the group named their experimental community Fairhope. Today, Fairhope real estate claims a population of over 16,000 residents. The city continues as one of the nation’s two remaining single-tax colonies. Fairhope is a thriving success known for its active arts community, excellent schools, community pier, bayside parks, top-notch recreational programs and a bustling downtown with unique shops, gourmet restaurants and cozy cafes.
Come and discover more of Fairhope’s interesting history at the Fairhope Museum of History, located at 24 N. Section Street. Admission is free.
Fairhope has always been a resort community. Visitors and new residents from around the world are drawn to Fairhope real estate’s natural beauty and the high quality of life that’s maintained through the city’s strategic plan for controlled growth. In addition to Fairhope real estate’s stunning beauty, high on the list of the city’s natural assets are its small-town ambience, residents’ welcoming attitude toward newcomers, proximity to Mobile’s big-city life and a climate that’s pleasant year round. Also Fairhope is known as the cultural center of Baldwin County’s Eastern Shore.
Fairhope Real Estate For An Array of Attractions
Fairhope strives to be a technologically advanced community. And it succeeds in many ways including its service that offers free Internet connections, 24/7, through new Wi-Fi hotspots covering all of downtown, most of Greeno Road and parts of the Municipal Pier Park.
Quail Creek Golf Course attracts golfers who enjoy a challenge. The 18-hole facility is managed by a PGA Golf professional and is located on Highway 181. It sports a driving range, pro-shop and grill. Quail Creek plays host to a number of exciting golf tournaments and outings.
The Fairhope Mardi Gras Season is always spectacular and a ton of fun for the entire family. It even offers a parade of dogs, Mystic Mutts of Revelry parade. You must come and see the great costumes. Another parade awes revelers with floats featuring mystic giants such as Paul Bunyon and the giant from “Jack and the Beanstalk.” Bring your family and experience Fairhope’s Mardi Gras celebration for fun times, good throws, great music and lots of surprises.
The annual spring Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival is in its 60th year and counting. Begun as artists’ simple displays in store windows, the festival has grown into an event that draws more than 230 exhibitors from throughout the nation. The festival’s prestigious juried shows take place right on the streets of downtown Fairhope.
In 2011, the number of visitors to the 40th annual Outdoor Art Show, hosted by the Eastern Shore Art Association, combined with the Arts & Crafts Festival visitors to total more than 250,000 visitors to the area.
With these and so many other cultural events and other attractions in the lush tropical setting, it’s no wonder locals cherish the life and good times they have in their beautiful “Sweet Home Fairhope.” And newcomers purchasing Fairhope real estate are always welcomed.
